ROADWAY UPDATE GRAHAM
DUMBLETON
The first
concreting session went very well, with a very good turn out of members and
their wheelbarrows. We managed to off load the full four cubic meters of
concrete in just over 30 minutes straight in to barrows. We actually had a
queue waiting in line ready to off load the mixer.
Once the concrete
was in place, we had a refreshing cup of tea, before the tamping down and
floating commenced, this was all completed by late morning.
The photo shows the completed first session

The next
concreting session was planned for after the next General Meeting, but as
the first session went so well and with a full calendar of events coming up,
it was decided to have a second session on Friday 4th. The mixer
with a further four cubic meters of concrete arrived at 9:20 am. Once again
a very good turn out of members and their wheelbarrows. Off loading again in
about 30 minutes, a break for tea and tamping commenced. Phil floated off
the surface as before and we were all finished by lunch time.
Many thanks to
all the members and their wives for turning up and supporting the club.

The next phase
will be to sort the turning circle, starting with a session or two levelling
the rubble, before we can get the shuttering in place ready for two more
concreting sessions. Our deadline for completion is the August Bank Holiday
weekend.

The concrete crew worked hard on a
sunny day early in July laying another 4 cubic metres, only one more session
to go and the road will be complete.

Monday 23rd July and the
last of the concrete was poured, the weather was a little damp but the job
was completed and covers erected to keep off the rain that was expected.
